From home to house and bolting from the gate!

The house is not longer a home and we are off on a family journey around Australia! Our caravan is our home on wheels now. The weeks leading up to leaving were really hectic and we left without all of our ducks lined up. We just couldn’t wait any longer to get going. Our house didn’t have a tenant lined up and mail redirection was organised on the side of the road.

Good bits.

Our first few days were spent on private property in the NSW Blue Mountains. The kids rode around on dirt bikes and Adam spent some time target shooting. A visit to Questacon in Canberra was followed by an amazing free camp at Lake Jindabyne. Jindabyne is not too far from the NSW Ski fields and is an awesome little town. It has a great foreshore for mountain biking and running. We suggest you check it out in the summer months as the town and its surrounds has so much to offer. The shopping village features a stand out bakery, Sundance Bakehouse and their pies are so goooooooood!

First week on the road and the car had a major breakdown! The brakes failed as we cruised through Mount Kosciuszko National Park and rolled into a small town called Talbingo. We stayed at Talbingo Caravan Park until Adam could replace them. It was a really nice place to get stranded!

The Creamy Bits.

The BEST SPOT we have stayed at is Running Creek Camping Reserve at Howqua, Victoria. Near Mansfield, it features a pristine river, dog friendly free camping and plenty of 4wd tracks to explore.

Fishing, swimming and snorkelling everyday for 5 days and we reckon you should get there and experience it yourself. We stumbled across fellow big lappers, Fidi Shadz and shared stories around the fire. We will no doubt cross paths again on our big lap. You can locate this top camping location through the WikiCamps App.

How are we tracking for cashflow? It’s all downhill from here as we both do not have an income stream. We are living off our savings! You can find out more about how to save money for travel in our blog.
