Travel with a dog.

Are you are questioning whether to bring your dog on holidays with you?

We are a family of four and are two weeks into our big lap of Oz and have had zero problems with our decision to bring our pooch, Wolly.

Bringing your dog on the big lap has more positives than negatives. In our case, we have not yet been restricted in the places we visit or stay.

Are you mad?

Some people will think you’re absolutely mad for doing the big lap with kids plus a pet! In the lead up to leaving, we were uncertain if we could manage it. You’ll be relieved to know it’s really not too hard. Be assured there are plenty of others who are travelling with a dog and with a little research you can easily find dog friendly camping.

There are an abundance of dog friendly caravan parks and camp sites to choose from.

Useful resources.

The main source of information for these places comes from the WikiCamps App and Camps 9 Australia book. WikiCamps is awesome for its impressive camp site list, comments & photos from users and GPS mapping. Camps 9 provides hard copy maps and short descriptions. We are old skool and love to look at the maps!

We have made sure our dog is fully vaccinated and his worming is up to date. Our family will rely on boarding kennels and dog sitters for the times we wish to visit National Parks.

Wolly is having a blast and our whole family are loving his company. If you think your dog can travel well then you should definitely consider bringing them along.
