Tesalate Towel Review.
This Tesalate towel review will help you discover if a beach towel really can be sand free, ultra absorbent and quick dry? The founders of Tesalate, Jackie Lam and Volkan Ozbek, began their humble Australian grown business based on the quest to design a towel that could do exactly that.
I have been road (trip) testing a Tesalate beach blanket, a generously sized 160cm x 160cm towel since October 2019 across some of the most picturesque destinations in Australia. As a travelling family, the best choice is the beach blanket as your gear needs to have more than one useful purpose. The Beach Blanket is perfect as a beach towel, a picnic blanket, a table cloth for picnic tables and when folded in half it is a fabulous yoga / pilates mat.
Sand free. Leave the beach at the beach.
I’m going to go further here in this Tesalate towel review. Not only is the towel sand free, it is also grass and bark free, pine needle free and crushed shell free.
- Dry sand is the easiest to remove. The majority of it simply slides off and rest comes away with a flick or two. There is not a singe grain of sand on the towel. Winning!
- Wet Sand requires a few extra flicks of the towel. If there are any grains left on the fabric, they aren’t noticeable.
- Grass and bark have been the main reasons why I have been reluctant in the past to invest in other types of quick dry (microfibre) towels. I’ve met travellers who are hesitant to bring out their microfibre towels because of the fear of getting grass on it. Apparently grass is like a magnet to these types of towels. Removing grass from the Tesalate towel simply involves a little bit of flicking and shaking and its grass free. Yay!
- Small pine needles are a towel’s and picnic blanket’s worst enemy! Pine needles are ever so slightly sticky and have tiny curved hooks along the needle. I managed to test out the towel on pine needles and the Tesalate towel came out on top again. A few extra shakes had the Tesalate towel completely pine needle free.
- Crushed shells can be found at many beaches and the very first beach I tested my new towel had only shells, no sand! Crushed shells came off so easily, I would go so far to say, easier than sand. Perfect.
Ultra absorbent; over 2 litres of water.
We’ve used our one Beach Blankets to dry off four people because we forgot all of our other towels!
So, yes. The Tesalate towel is ultra absorbent.
Rapid-drying. Half the time of a regular beach towel.
Yes, it dries super fast. Faster than our regular velour beach towel but I haven’t been able to confirm if it dries in half the time. I am too busy enjoying my travels to measure it accurately.
Compact when rolled. Fits in your bag. Available in 4 sizes.
Amazingly compact and absolutely perfect for travelling. For such a generously sized beach towel, the Beach Blanket takes up the same folded space as a regular sized beach towel.
If you’re looking for something that takes up even less space, Tesalate offer standard sized towels, gym towels and the all new kids towel range. The kids range feature cute & funky designs and are perfect for kids up to the age of about 13.

Pet friendly.
As the towel is highly absorbent, it is perfect for a shaggy dog too.
Tesalate towel review verdict.
A Tesalate towel is an outstanding investment for a family that loves beaches, bays, rivers and lakes. The towel utilises cutting-edge textile technology, an exclusive AbsorbLite™ fabric that appears flat woven and soft to the touch.
At $79 for a standard sized towel, pricing is competitive with the big surf brands, who only produce regular beach towels.
Its an Australian owned business that has perfected innovative sand free towels that are both functional and fashionable. A worthy item to have when travelling Australia.
