If you’ve been to Europe, you’ll most likely be familiar with Decathlon and its range. If you don’t know anything about them, here is the gist;
Decathlon is the world’s largest sporting goods retailer, offering an exclusive range of products through more than 1500 stores globally. The first Decathlon store opened in France in 1976 and Australia opened its first store in 2017.
5 reasons why we love Decathlon.
1.
Decathlon’s mission is to make sport affordable for everyone, regardless of age, experience and ability. This is the kicker for us, its a company that offers technical products at different price points so everyone has a choice. Our son loves their simple hiking backpack, which will set you back a measly $4.50.
2.
Their superstore warehouse’s have 70 sports covered under one roof including an awesome range of camping hiking, swimming, snorkelling, fishing and hunting gear. We stocked up on camping, hiking, swimming gear and a scooter at Decathlon shortly before we set off for our full time travels.
3.
Decathlon have their own research and development facility enabling them to create their own innovating products. Inventions include the full face snorkelling mask and a 2 second camping tent.
4.
You can try before you buy! Whether you’re on the search for a new bicycle, scooter, skateboard, roller blades, golf clubs, horse riding gear, tents, rock climbing equipment, gym equipment, trampoline or football, you can give just about everything a go in store.
5.
Decathlon are committed to responsibly sourced cotton and are proactive in the pursuit for a sustainable future. This is super important to us as cotton is an intensive crop and unsustainable practices can not continue. You can read more about their sustainability goal here.
Decathlon are newbies here in Oz and we are looking forward to putting our gear through Australian conditions. Stay tuned for gear reviews and more!
Cheers,
Mia & Adam.
